There's a store in Pittsford along the canal (tucked back behind all the Schoen Place stores) that is all dollhouse supplies - they may have kits.

Then there's this crazy expensive place in Fairport. I've never been.

If you have any interest in building a log cabin dollhouse, I have a kit kicking around that I'm never going to get around to building.

And, as always, garage sales are your friend. I got this enormous one for $30 last summer, complete with a lot of furn worth quite a bit of $. I keep running into dollhouses for sale this way and I don't have the money to buy them all! Also try the Avon Flea Market and the Rochester Public Market on garage sale sundays. I'd seen some both places last year.

Good luck!

how much do you want for the log cabin dollhouse? how big is it, etc?
in the summer i usually go to yard sales, i love them, but i've never seen a dollhouse before, i guess i hit up the wrong ones.

so do you build dollhouses? i've never built one before, but i really think it'd be fun and i always wanted a kickass dollhouse when i was little.

The one in Pittsford is called Kookla's Miniatures, or something like that. It's just behind the canal. Kookla's DEFINITELY carries kits, and they will help you select the right dollhouse for your needs. They are exceptional there! I used to drive in from Buffalo just to go there.

AC Moore carries dollhouse kits, but they don't have a location in Rochester. I think the closest one is in Buffalo. It's almost worth the drive though.

There is an AC Moore here in Rochester now. It's on W Ridge Rd, in the Ridgemont Plaza(?), practically across the street from Joann's. Nice place too, and yes they have dollhouse kits and some really nice accessories too.

Sweet! I didn't realize there was one in Rochester now! That is going to be so dangerous to my paycheck... It's a far better craft store than JoAnns, and I used to work at JoAnns, so I am biased.

It's great, isn't it. The first time I went to the AC Moore I must have gone from one end of the store to the other checking everything out. When I got to the dollhouse stuff I felt like a kid at the Christmas toy display. Too bad I already have many crafts and am already keeping places like Joann's, AC Moore, and about half a dozen eBay sellers very happy.
